I am upgrading my memory from two 128MB's to two 512MB's. My concern is will I not shock my computer into oblivian with this huge switch? With that I mean will I not lose any temporary memory that is on the 128's?

Nope, when the computer is turned off, memory is wiped clean anyway. RAM does not have the ability to hold data without electricity running through it.
