Yes, that will work since your motherboard can handle up to 16GB; in other words, each slot can handle up to 4GB. If your motherboard supports dual channel memory, match the two 2GB modules together and the two 4GB modules together. Your memory slots may be color-coded to indicate how dual channel memory should be installed.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the help :)

    From experience I have run:

    DIMM1: G Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ 2 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-17 @ 457 MHz)
    DIMM2: G Skill F3-10666CL9-1GBNQ 1 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (9-9-9-24 @ 666 MHz) (8-8-8-22 @ 592 MHz) (6-6-6-16 @ 444 MHz)
    DIMM3: G Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ 2 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-17 @ 457 MHz)
    DIMM4: G Skill F3-10666CL9-1GBNQ 1 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (9-9-9-24 @ 666 MHz) (8-8-8-22 @ 592 MHz) (6-6-6-16 @ 444 MHz)

for about two years now without a problem. I did go into BIOS and manually define settings, but I am sure they would have worked on auto settings. You are aiming for the same make/model but just different sizes, should work.

It should be okay, my experience has it the speeds will all be the same, and most motherboards I have used in the past usually requires 2 of the same cards per 2 slots. The only time I ever had trouble is when I tried experimenting with different speeds and cards of different sizes unpaired.

From personal experience some of the modern MCH/FSB chipsets are "very fussy" with RAM, Newegg links are just cycling here in Australia atm and I can't ascertain your specif mobo.

Personally I would not expect a "tri-channel" kit and then another brand entirely in the 4th DIMM to behave in a stable manner. I would anticipate a significant increase in the likelihood of DATA transcription errors leading to problems and or failures.

Analogy: it is like putting three Australians in a room with a Canadian, we all speak the same language but there are the potential for communication and or lost in translation errors to occur (personally I like Canadians, they are like the Northern version of a Kiwi but sometimes we have confusion about "actual" communication).

That's what I was afraid of. Might be putting the extra chip in another computer then.

    Thanks for the help :)
