Which specific Acer computer did you take the RAM from, and which specific Acer did you put it into? There should be a label of some kind on the underside if it's a laptop, and on the back if it's a desktop.

If there are no labels, there is a link in Major Attitude's post here that lets you download Belarc and get the info for us.

P.S. We need to know the other things he lists in that post as well. Which Windows version you're using and all that... the more you tell us, the more likely it is we'll be able to help.

I still need to know the rest of the info I mentioned earlier. If they're both an E1-531 that means the memory should work and that is good to know, but not nearly enough to help you fix the problem that made you post here in the first place.

You said the computer is "rebooting but not picking it up", and that unfortunately is a bit too vague to work with. Please post back with the following info:

    1. Which specific Windows version are you using?
    2. How much RAM is physically installed into the computer?
    3. How much RAM is windows reporting?
    4. How much RAM is BIOS reporting?

I just got my free upgrade to windows 10, I had win 7. each acer came with 4gb of ram so I installed the other ram to make it 8 gb ram.
when I boot up it windows is saying installed 4gb ram.

Okay. That sounds as if your laptop doesn't know you added an extra 4GB. You'll want o make sure it is installed all the way, which can be tricky in laptops. Power off, take out the battery and power cord, and all the other things you need to do to make sure there is no leftover power in the motherboard, and check that both your RAM pieces are fully into their sockets. The gold connectors that go into the slot should be as close to invisible as you can get them.

If you can't tell from looking at them when they are installed, testing your RAM pieces one at a time with the other socket empty, is an easy way to figure out if one of them has decided to suddenly be uncooperative (= gone bad).

Is your operating system 32bit or 64bit?

I think windows 10 looks nice but i personally don't like it at the moment.

I remember i had the same opinion about windows 8 but after 8.1 came out and some fixes made it better ( like 1 or 1.5 years after release) it wasn't too bad.

However the way windows 10 is right now i don't see myself upgrading, between the lack of privacy, forced updates, bugs, and various programs and drivers not working in one of my pcs i think ill stay away from it for a while if not permanently.

The major thing with me is not the bugs that bother me the most but the extreme lack of privacy and gathering of data.

Id imagine for people that let just do express installs and let the operating system do everything for you this would not be of major concern because they would hardly care or payed little attention to it but this is one thing on windows 10 that really bothers me enough to not ever want to upgrade unless its changed

Awesome, glad it's working now. Thanks for letting us know. :)

As for Advise on Windows 10, I'm really not that much of and expert on it, but there should be people in the software forum who can help you with that. Good luck!
