I have a five year old Compaq with an Intel Celeron cpu 2.8 It has a whopping 504 mb of ram. I still have 90 gigs left on my hard drive. I'm running XP version 2002 service pk 3. I've scaned for virus and spyware, but it still runs very slow. Should I raise the memory or give up the ghost and buy a new computer? thanks, any imput would be appreciated

increase your memory to 1Gig...this will make things run alot more smoothly.. then there are other things you can do to try speed things up such as disabling un needed start up entries, uninstalling old software you know you'll never use...plenty to try before you give up the ghost :) What Anti Virus do you run by the way?

With all the patches and updates, the minimum requirements for Windows XP is right now 512MB of memory. You'll be amazed what increasing that amount will do for system performance.
