Memtest 86

Is MEMTEST 86 the right utility for testing a core 2 processor with Intel motherboard. On the major geeks download site, it mentions that memtest 86 is for x86 architecture - I don't know what this means which is why I ask.

Use Memtest86+ and it supports Core Duo, nothing to do with x86 as it runs on my AMD64 rig. Burn the ISO to disc and boot from it and let it run overnight for best results.

 

memtest86 is great for when you tighten your memory timings, run it overnight and if their are no errors your good to push 'em further, but im not sure why you would use memtest 86 to test your cpu?, try "burn in test" its freeware, or prime95, they will test and stress all your pc or selected parts of it, memtest will stress your memory only, just a thought! i-CONICA...

 

For testing Dual Core CPU's I'd suggest Orthos

Prime95 is fine but you need to run dual instances, Orthos is prime95 thats set up for DC's
