Menu's Vanish Microsoft Works 7.0

I am using Microsoft XP Works 7.0 Word / Database / Spreadsheets

When I hover mouse over menu’s they show the menu’s ok, but when I point mouse down the menu’s File / New / Open etc the menu’s vanish
the same problem also occurs in Works Database and Spreadsheet.

I have been advised to locate the Normal.dot file and delete/rename it etc, which I have done but it's no good when I restart Word the menu’s still vanish

I have tried Uninstall / Reinstall but it's no good the menu’s still won’t stop disappearing

I think the Registry value for Microsoft Works may need a little adjustment but I don’t know how can anyone please advise me
