    Hi all.
I opened messenger this morning and had 10 e-mails.
Most were notification of failure to send.
The contacts were in my address book.
There was a file attached to the e-mails.
I downloaded one as a zip file, scanned it and opened it.
There were 2 files, one was a file type called 'file' and named ATT00001
The other was a icon of an open envelope entitled 'no subject' of file type 'Windows Live Mail Mail Message'
When I ran the file it was a Windows Live Messenger proramme asking me if I want to set Windows Live as my default e-mail program.
Anyone heard of this or knows what's gone on?
I didn't send any of these messages to my contacts.
    Cheers.

That reads like you have some malware, best to start here, read it thoroughly before running the scans and log any errors.

To try to block any more unauthorised attempts at sending email via your account in the meantime, go to a known clean computer, login to WLM and change your password.

    Thanks for the reply.
I have changed my password via a laptop.
These messages only started being sent after I had ran Malwarebytes and Super Anti Spyware and got rid of a couple of trojans.
Perhaps this was their final act ??
I shall back up some stuff and do the malware removal guide.
