Messenger Plus! Spyware

    Yea...uhh...i accidentally checked the install sponsor software box in the Messenger Plus! installation (an msn addon) and basically it added a searchbar, a lot of favourite links, a few shortcuts to the desktop, no programs to the 'installed programs' list. I got rid of everything but the searchbar, which wouldnt remove for some reason. I checked task manager, i had like 6 IEXPLORE's open. closed em all and they....open on their own, timer based it seems. Someone help please ?

    P.S. Some files im 100% sure were added by this also cannot be deleted (says access denied) and those damn 'Supported Link' popups that appear when you move your mouse over a specific word are back!

    Did you uninstall Messenger Plus too? It does not deserve a place on your PC. Not with the baggage they stick in there installation and license agreement that most people do not read.

    At anyrate the first step is to please follow all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal >

    If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

    NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

    After the above, let us know what problems (be specific) you still have and we will continue from there.
