Sorry I haven't come on in so long, lost track of the threads a while back and it's so confusing to step back in!

 

sorry man, been busy with school and grandmom, she's doing better now so after next week (got first exams next week, all in all we have 4 exams per subject spread over the year which is highly annoying = mucho studying) I should be able to be here a bit more

*grumble grumble* Tried fixing the title for ya Eric...thread titles can be tricky sometimes and this is one of those times...it won't accept M.I.A. or spelling out mia....only puts it within the thread I tired.

I've been having major puter issues that have gotten steadily worse since the last hurricane blew through...finally had to install another copy of my OS in order to access all my files so I can get my backups done...thought I'd be done by now but it's very slow going....hoping to get to format stage by later tonight or tomorrow so needless to say my internet access has been extremely limited.

I'd like to say you and Cindy, among many others are very missed too I think we are all partially to blame...when we should have continued with our pleasant, respectful, interesting and fun threads we instead all faded into the background while a few not so nice people managed to change the whole atmosphere into something resembling a war zone of personal attacks, criticisms, digs, sarcasm and overall childish game playing. And this from those that are supposed to be adults Fortunately for us...as is always the case, those kind of people move on or are assisted in moving on. I would love nothing better than to see the lounge get back to what it was where we could all share ideas, laughs, hugs & tears and have the great in depth conversations we used to have without the cut-downs and sarcasm...none of us ever tried to cut each other off at the knees and we respected each others opinions, beliefs etc...*sigh*Those were the days. I sure miss the camaraderie....there is so little if any of it anymore.

Sadly, you will find no star17 in the member list....his account was deleted at his request. It absolutely broke my heart as this is where we met but it had to be done. I am feeling kind of lost around here just knowing he won't be popping in to post or send me some silly PM. Even though he's sitting right here in the same room with me just knowing he is no longer a member here is weird, sad and to be perfectly honest....I'm not quite sure how to deal with that on a personal level. But, it had to be done due to a security concern...added to that I have to use a proxy which is a real pain in the butt cuz I get dropped a lot and of course the response time is a lot slower than what I'm used to. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do huh?

I know this is 'just a forum' but for us, without MG there would be no star-n-AbbySue....

Even so, I would still like to see the fun the lounge used to be return...we did that one thread a few months ago but at a guess I'd have to say it's been close to a year..maybe a little more since us *cough* 'old time' regulars were here and actually participating in a thread...would love to see a thread going with the old 'crew' and a bunch of the newer peeps....what a blast that would be!

Ditto. It was a pleasure to banter with him, and find out later he was a man of integrity, intelligence and highly motivated in his chosen profession. Also a man with excellent taste in women . I'll miss him, but hope you stay on AbbySue.

For awhile now, I've been trying to figure out a way to say that if all the mature respectful adults leave because of a few immature disrespectful childish people, then only the immature disrespectful childish people will be left. So I've stuck around through the rough times, but I've sorely missed some of the oldtimers who have been chased off. A really corny way to say it is, "If all the flowers let themselves be choked out by the weeds, soon all that will be left is weeds. I'd rather have weeds AND flowers, instead of just weeds."

That absolutely breaks my heart, but we understand, and support him (and you) and we'll be here when he comes back. Give him a hug for us, and tell him it's been an honor and privilege to get to know him, and such a blast. He always lifted our spirits. geesh, I'm talking about him like he's dead or something, sorry about that.

As Cindy suggested, the removal of his account was due to his job. Any time there is a security concern he has to act on it due to the sensitive data on his puter. In this case, it involved removing his account and all his posts. This has nothing to do with MG as a whole or the vb software. As we share a static IP I had to switch to using a proxy or also have my account deleted Security changes are in the works and if all goes as planned he will be able to sign back up and I can ditch the proxy(s). In the near future, we will both have additional security installed on our puters and they will monitor any incoming attempts to access via our static IP.

To all of you he says a big thank you for your kind words....he misses many of you whom he has come to care a great deal about.

You said that a lot better than I could! Chris and I were pretty bummed sitting back watching the change unfold over the last year or so...it really was sad...sadder because we 'old timers' allowed it to happen. Instead of continuing with the camaraderie we had, we stepped back simply because of a few whose posts/attitudes left a sour taste in out mouths. Every one of us is guilty for allowing negativity, holier than thou attitudes and childish behavior to rein. Sometimes situations are more difficult than others to deal with (for me at least) because I sit here and wonder is it just me or does this person have an attitude problem...hard to say sometimes and if no one is reporting posts or contacting one of us to say "hey! this person is going down the wrong road here" I can only assume it's a situation where something about that member just irritates me...kinda like in real life you meet people from time to time that give you the creeps or for some unknown reason you take an immediate dislike to them. Stuff happens but without a little 'mature' feedback sometimes it's a tough call for me to make.

Now I need to finish my backups and get this beast formatted...it's been a LONG time coming...I haven't even installed SP2 yet cuz I wanted to start fresh when it was released...just never got around to doing it...now I have no choice! LOL

To those of you that sent me PM's....I'll get to them in a bit...I want to get my puter back up and running right first. I know I've been way behind in reading and responding...David...will you ever forgive me? I have 3 sitting there unread from you going back to 9/5 Things have been a real mess and I promise to get to them ASAP *hugs*

 

Yeah, there have been a few sparse and sporadic posts by some of the above, but not the usual consistant banter that I've seen in the past. Like I said, some have only been "MIA" for 3 or 4 weeks, others for a year. I'm just trying to tell everyone how much they are missed and loved.

 

We need to go on a Yeller Shorts Crusade. Bet that would make them show up

I guess I fall into the "M.I.A." for three or four weeks catagory. Some overseas work commitments and a lot happening in my personal life (some of it actually good, for once!) has necessitated me not being online for a while.

I do miss the old atmosphere and friendships too, but for a number of reasons, that's the way it is, at least for now, I suppose.

I wasn't aware that Chris isn't with us on forum any more, and I will certainly miss his presence, personalty, good humor and intellegence .

I think both Abby and Star have my personal details, so hopefully we'll be in touch anyway. I think of you both often.

Seriously - I can't believe we're nearing the end of 2004. I've learned so much on MG and my friends think I'm such a Computer Geek (in the most positive sense of the term)

I owe it all to everyone here and have told so many people about MG and all that is offered here. People are like, "You mean there is FREE antivirus software?" Uh, yeah....

Anyway, it is hard to jump back in 'cause you know you've missed so much even after a month...

Abby - you've always "listened" to me and helped me. Love your avatar. Sorry things are complicated with Star and security issues.

If we focus on what WAS and not on what we all have here and now we can remain bummed out. Let's just get things started and joke and laugh and instead of wondering about the past, I bet there's a whole new crop (and those like me who joined not so long ago) wanting to jump in with the oldies but goodies and start a whole new GROUP to be remembered.

A new year is coming...let's make it the best in our own lives and in everyone who comes here looking for advice and support.

I found this thread, while looking for star.........being on this fourm for a while......i can out stuff just fine, and when I tried to find him, and counldn't.......went looking for Abby.....find one, find out about the other.......it took a few minuntes to read all the way thru the thread......sorry your out there without a voice star......just glad you didn't leave, when this place went downhill..........as to why I didn't try very hard, to end the problems others were making.......I remember the story's of yesteryear, of the flame wars on the older web site, the founders of MG had..........and when push comes to shove..I can step on toes, really hard, but if you read it with a "wrong slant", it will look as if I'm flaming you..............
...........so I took a back seat, when the crap hit the fan..........

...after 22 years in the US Air Force, I don't report to anybody.....but for you guys, I'm in and out most all the time..........wobbles
