Mic for voice software

What would be a good microphone for Voice software? What's better a headset or stand mic?

 

I find my headset is very effective after I have calibrated it but I'm sure a good stand mic may offer better quality but be limited to the locality of yourself and thus may create variation when you move your head (reading from a book, lecdture notes, etc). It will depend on the quality of the desired outcome versus activity.
