Microphone issues...

Hey guys,

I just got the BF2 demo and realized that I'm going to need to get a mic if i want to enjoy this game when it hits retail. I bought a plug and play mic (40 dollar logitech something-or-other) and tried to get some kind of recording out of it, but no dice.

I plugged in the headphones to my sound card and music plays fine through them, so I know my sound card isn't fried (unless its just the mic slot that doesn't work). I've tried to get a mic working before with my brothers old one, and that one didn't work either, so it isn't the headphones.

I'm looking through windows help file and can't find anything either... does anyone have anything to suggest what might be wrong?

I'm running Win XP, if it means anything.
