Hi, I recently bought a mic. The model is the AHS-201 Altec Lansing with microphone plugin, not usb. I can't get the mic to work for games online. I have tried the sound recorder and that doesnt work. I have it plugged into the back into my Creative SB Audigy 2 soundcard. Thanks.

Set up your Audio Devices "Voice" thru your Control Panel first. I had a hard time setting up my Mic for Yahoo w/ voice. Once I got that done it worked every where else.

How do I set it up for the microphone? it currently lists "SB Audigy Audio (D4C0)" for voice recording.

Are there any conflicts in your system > device manager?

All cords are where they should be, in back, connected to the soundcard microphone jack.

I also just installed "Speech Recognition". When I went to "configure microphone", it did not register any sound input from the bar moving.

Should I be configuring it through "Speech Recognition" or elsewhere?

did it come with a disk? did you try add new hardware in the controll panel? also in multi media put acheck beside use only preferred device?

Is there a built in mic somewhere i.e laptops have them, that could cause a conflict. check control panel > system > devices.

There is no built in mic, it didn;t come with a disk. In add new hardware, it didn't detect a new device. I'm not sure where "multi media" is to check preferred device.

in control panel > Sound Recorder, go to Edit/Audio Properties, and double check that the
sound card is set as default source for recording.

    Yep, sound card is default.

well i'm running out here. are you positive you hooked it up corectly at the back of your sound card? besides that, maybie its a broken wire and thats the reason . that is if volume is up, and its not on mute. anything more you can add? specs wise?

Yeah i've checked everything, it's probably the mic causing the problem. I'll probably go with a USB mic. Thanks for all your time though, I appreciate it!

try to double-click the speaker icon in the systray and un mute line in as well...now i'm stabbing at anything . possibly its your soundcard . it shouldnt really be this tricky.
