Microsfoft Word Spell Check

Microsoft Word no longer underlines misspelled for words for me, if i type in fjkaldfjla it will not do anything. There also isnt a listing for it under tools, can anyone help me. within the options for word.... the tab for grammer has been wipped out and frozen so u cannot click on it.

 

No i dont see any options... the tab for grammer is fuzzed out and you cannot click on it

It sounds as though you have a corrupted Normal.dot, the major control file of Word.

To help you fix it, I need to know which VERSION of Word you have, and what operating system you're using.

 

My opporating system is windows 2000 and im using office 2000

 

OK. I don't have Win2k on any of my machines, so I'm not exactly sure where Normal.dot IS on Win2k. So ...
Go to Start>Find>Files, and enter Normal.dot.

When you find it, first close all running Word files, so Word is shut down completely, then navigate down Normal.dot in Windows Explorer, and rename it
OldNormal.dot

Now restart Word, and it will generate a new Normal.dot for you, and Options should be available under Tools in the Menu bar, and you should be able to find the setting that says Check spelling as you type.

If anything doesn't work out, close Word, go back to where you found Normal.dot, and delete the new Normal.dot that Word just created, and rename OldNormal.dot to Normal.dot and restart Word and you'll be back where you started.

 

I tried that and it didnt work, its not the tab for options that does not work... its the tab within options for spelling and grammer that does not work.
