Ok, so heres the thing. I have a CD that i'm trying to run (for those who care, it's actually a CD of the CT scan of my brain).
Everytime I try to run it on my Win7 64-bit machine I get an error that i need to install MDAC, however, as we know MDAC can't be installed on Win 7. Anyone have a solution for this? I've checked everywhere on the CD and there are no applications that i can open and just bypass MDAC.
Ideas?

Ask whoever gave you the CD how to run it on your computer. Maybe it was not designed to run on home computers.
I'm unpaid tech support for my doctor and she has special medical programs on her office computer. I can't help her with those because they are so specialized. When she has a problem, she contacts tech support.

its a cd i got at the end of 2008. It is designed to run on home computers, but you have to install MDAC. According to Microsoft I shouldn't have to install anything, but when does Microsoft ever know what they are actually talking about? lol.
Anyway, just looking for ideas,

Note the following:

Here's what I did: I installed MS Visual Studio 6 on an XP machine, and installed its Service Pack 5 update there. Then I manually copied the new compiler file cl.exe from that machine to overwrite the one on my Windows 7 machine. That seemed to accomplish the update, getting around the MDAC complaint.

If your program worked in Windows XP and not in Windows 7, then you can try and run it in XP mode if you are running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate edition.

hmm. thanks. unfortunately i dont have an XP machine anymore and i stupidly bought 7Home to save a few bucks .
I will have to read the thread and see if anyone has any other ideas.
