Microsoft Excel help

I want to create a spreadsheet where employees can input a name into cell A1. I want to have cell B1 record the date and time. Then later when the task is complete, they would put their name into cell A2 and have the time in B2. Then cell C2 would have a formula to calculate how long it took to complete the task. Any idea how to record what time the changes were entered?

I want it to look like this I just do not know how to record the time. @now() seems to change when the clock changes.

A1: Joe
B1: 05/08/07 21:19

A2: Joe
B2: 05/08/07 21:20

B3: =B2-B1

Any suggestions?

 

I don't know much about macros but if you only want to know how to insert current time than this may help.

It seems to be what you are looking for to replace the NOW() function. Unfortunately when I try subtracting B1 from B2 it gives a nonsense date [however, time difference is fine], perhaps separating date and time into separate cells would work or you may know a better solution.

 

Thank you very much. I can work with that. It is more the time than the date that is the issue. 99% of what is being done is same day, for the remainder I can manually calculate. Thanks again, BIG help.
