Microsoft Genuine Advantage

Hi there,

I have updated my windows media player and now it says me that I don't have a legal version (And I think they are right) But now the problem is that i can't listen to movies and music anymore... Could someone tell me how to remove to microsoft genuine advantage warning page or give me and other media player...

You can use a different media player, just look thru the MultiMedia downloads here at MajorGeeks; be sure to get a codec pack downloaded and installed too. As far as removing the WGA notices: Navigate to C:\Windows\System32 and look for two files that start with 'wga'; one is a .dll file, the other a .exe file. Rename them by adding a zero to the beginning of each file name (so it'll be 0wga.dll or 0wga.exe). Now click start Start > Run and type msconfig and look thru the start-up tab and services tab for anything with WGA in it and disable (uncheck the box) any items found. Reboot the PC. If everything goes smoothly (meaning: no errors), go back to the System32 folder and delete the two 0wga files you renamed earlier. If you do get errors (you shouldn't), just remove the 0 from the filename and live with the bogus warnings.

BTW- you may have to enable viewing of hidden files/folders, system files/folder, and uncheck hide extensions by opening My Computer, click on Tools at the top, go to Folder Options, click the View tab, and scroll down.
