Patch Tuesday offered me 15 updates on Windows XP, and 25 updates for Windows 7. Among them were KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583 - all for Office 2007.

After system restart, Automatic Updates immediately offered these three updates again. Secunia PSI also complained that these updates were not applied.

Searching Google today for these KB numbers I found that I am not quite alone experiencing this, and that "Microsoft is investigating the problem". So far no solution is available. Microsoft recommends to hide the updates for now.

WOW! I'm running 32-bit XP and it only offered 5 patches.

I'm running Secunia PSI also and it never mentions Microsoft patches. How do you get it to do so?

On Patch Tuesday I had problems with installing KB2760411. It would present itself as not installed because it told me to install it again and again (after rebooting every time). Finally it stopped presenting itself as a new update. Showing as 3x installed in Windows Update. Strangely enough in Program & Features (view installed updates) it shows as just 1 installed. That's on Win 7. All other KB's installed without a problem.

KB2760411, KB2760588, KB2760583, lots of complaints about presenting the same Office patches over and over.
I installed them twice (XP systems) and then when I checked they were offered for a 3rd time. Since someone posted they installed three times and it didn't help, I decided to stop at twice. I'll wait until MS fixes this mess.

I found this article very good.

Since I follow Susan Bradley's advice on what to install, what to wait on and what to skip, I thought her letter to Steve Balmar was spot on.
Too many botched patches this month.

I just ran update again and it still shows the three patches but off to the right it shows this
    Total: 3 updates , 0 KB , 0 minutes *
    (*Downloaded; ready to install)
Let's see if it is fixed.

Well that didn't work. It still shows them as needing to be installed. My history shows they have been installed on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; so it is still not fixed.

Perhaps it's the way I handle patch Tuesday. I don't wait for the notification to show up in the System Tray on Wednesday. I go to the Microsoft Update site in the early evening on patch Tuesday using IE. My system gets scanned and the High Priority updates come up along with an optional update to the definitions file for MSSE. I download and install them immediately and then clone the drive to another one.

I've got the Baseline Security Analyzer and ran it after reading your post and the only thing it complained about is my Updates settings (Notify me but don't download or install). Otherwise, I'm up to snuff.

It seems to have been fixed with the revisions of MS13-072 and MS13-073; see below.
