Microsoft Keyboard favorite keys not working

Hello so I have had this keyboard Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A for round 5 years. I have Microsoft Intelltype Pro 6.3 installed. The problem is that I can press the button for the favorite keys which are 1-5 and the star and work. When I press the button one favorite key it asks me to assign the favorite key I browse for the file and assign the key hit ok. Then when I press my favorite key one nothing happens. So that is the problem nothing happens after I assign the key and press the button for the assigned key. I have also tried all 1-5 favorite keys it is the same problem. So does anyone know if there is a fix for this?
