    Hello to all,
I don't know exactly how to ask this.,But about a month ago, my computer lost the ability to remember what I am typing in the drop down box- If that makes sense? Another way to put it would be, you know how you start to type something and your computer will bring up the rest of it so you don't have to type the same thing over and over again? Well, I lost that ability and do not know how to make my computer start doing it again. I used to just start typing http for a URL and all of my URL's would pop up, then I would click on the one I wanted.I have a vista operating system, if that helps.

    Thanks!
    Randy

    Check your Internet Options.

    Control Panel>Internet Options>Privacy tab>Auto Complete [settings button]

Mine look like this picture, I believe they are the default options.

Above would be for IE. FF would be different using Firefox>Tools>Options>Privacy.

Thanks sach2, but I already did all of that and double checked everything. I even gave it a couple of weeks. It's just not remembering what I type. Unless I missed something. And...yes I am using FF

    Hmmm,

Are you using FF or IE?

Are you using any other cleaning software like CCleaner? They can erase saved URLs as well.

Yes, I am using Firefox with Vista. I also am using Advanced windows care, Glary Utilities, Avira and super anti spyware. I never had a problem before. I might have changed a setting and not remember which one it was. The thing is, I always thought your computer would start the process over again. but it didn't.

I'm guessing in was either Advanced windows care or Glarys that made the change. FF does not like to forget URLs typed in to the address bar (clearing history and cache and cookies still won't clear the address bar). I believe it is a an advanced procedure to get it to stop (using about:config and specific instructions).

I'll see if I can find anything about turning it back on. How often do you run AWCare and which of Glary's do you use (I'm thinking the Glary erase internet tracks option could be a problem)? But I don't they would make a permanent change. Do you use those programs daily?

I might have steered you wrong sach2. The address bar is fine. It's form filling, email and anything redundant that I do with safelists if you are familiar with that sort of thing. I used to start typing in my subject or from field in emails and my drop down box would pop up with all of my previous stuff and I would click on them in the drop down box. Does that make more sense? It's not remembering them any more. I wish I could explain it better. I am probably not helping.

As far as widows cleaner... I run it every day and always have. I am thinking I made a mistake along the way and can't find it.

I am turning in for the night. Will check back with you.
Thank you so much for your time.
