Microsoft.net framework 2.0 installation JUST NOT HAPPENING!!!

:confusedHi Guys...Would really appreciate some help with recent problem.namely installing Microsoft.net Framewrok.2.0......I have a 12 month old Compaq running XP media,recently when attempting to download some software, error message appeared stating Microsoft.Net framework 2.0 was not installed so software could not download.
I attempted to download Microsoft.net framework 2.0 from Microsoft and although initial set up downloaded ,the installation wizard froze at 75% with same error message.
"Error 25013 failed to instal C\Windows\Microsoft\Framework\2.0 because strong name signature could not be verified.was the the assembly built delay signed".
Attempts with supplier (over a 14 day period) have drawn a blank,request for help to Microsoft was a request for £159 for support fees!!!
I have run a check on my PC and it would appear that no form of Microsoft.net framework is installed.....
Help please as this is now becoming so frustrating .....if the this site cannot assist is there any recommended online assistance available..Cheers caskin

 

Many thanks for reply,dont wish to appear negative but did read all threads prior to post and attempted all cures without success....for some reason my Pc will not accept a framework download.....Caskin
