Hi Everyone! I have an Intel E4300 dual core processor on an ECS P4M800 motherboard with 2 gb pc6400 dual a-d memory and I am trying to install a program that requires .net framework 2.0. My machine has .net framework 1.1 installed. I downloaded 2.0 from microsoft and began the install but at a certain point the install halts and I get an error dialog that says "device not ready". MicroSoft Update was unable to install .net framework 3.0 the last time it ran also. The program I want to install is MZ Ultimate Tweaker 4.8. Can anyone help? Thanks

Thank you, alukard for your help. I tried your link and uninstalled .NET framework 1.1 however when I tried to install 2.0 I got this message,

    "Error 25015.Failed to install assembly
'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.VisualBasic.Vsa.dll' Because of system error: The device is not ready."

I also went to the link the failed installation dialogue gives you,
"http://support.microsoft.com/ph/8291" but there was no help there either.
I'm still lost and any input is welcome thanks again

Hello Halo:) Thank you very very much for the link! It worked just fine and I was able to reinstall .NET 2.0 and subsequently the tweak program that I wanted. That was great! Maybe you would answer another question about .NET stuff? Is 2.0 a replacement for 1.1 or do I need to reinstall 1.1 now in order to run anything? Also since there is a 3.0 and a 3.5 do I need them all? or do the later ones replace the earlier versions?
I hope everybody enjoys Thanksgiving and I sure appreciate the help thanks.

Hi Glad that worked, well I knew it would as Aaron is clever chap.

Yes/No as .NET is suposed to be backwards compatible but with something as complex as .NET it just doesnt always happen so different apps programmed with different versions of .NET may call on Runtimes from a specific version, so to be more compatible keep which ever ones you are asked for by the application, I would see how you go with just .Net 2.0 and its updates, if you have an application that fails due to a missing .NET1.1 or 3.x then install them.

Think off hand I have just got .NET3.0 which is in Vista and all apps I tried on the .NET platform work fine.
