I can downlowd the update but there is an error and it fail everytime.
I have used revo uninstaller to remove all previous versions of .NET framework and still no joy.

    The error report states
"[06/04/09,17:29:37] Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package': [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package'. MSI returned error code 1603
[06/04/09,17:30:02] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package' is not installed."

    Any Ideas please?

Found this after googling for a while. There is a dotnetfx cleanup tool (zip) out in this link. http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog_Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip I's supposed to clean out the remnants of .NET Framework. Supposedly a reinstall of .NET Framework 3.5 should be possible after having run the cleanup tool.

Never tried it myself, perhaps someone else can follow this up with you? (Thinking of Halo for instance :) )

PS: another link from the same author here: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx

That is truly puzzling, but I had mine burned to a CD and I installed it that way... Maybe you can do the same, Captain Drift. No, I didn't remove any, it just over-rode what was there, and I never had any problems with it... Yup, I think this is one for Halo too.. ;)

    I ran the removal tool,
Went to the windows update site installed .net 1.1, restarted
went to windows update installed .net 1.1 service pack
restarted, installed the .net 3.5 update fine
Thanks for the advice, That is why this is a great site.

Yeah Aaron Stebners tool is one I have used many times in the past as I did do some testing of .Net betas so need it to remove the beta before installing the full release version, it works well and is one to keep around as it helps if .Net is the issue, to allow you to removal all and then reinstall from scratch.

Good catch on this Oma :)

From what I read this tool will remove all .NET Framework versions if having trouble re-installing or removing, beyond beta's.

Halo, your comment really makes my day, getting to hear this from you means a LOT to me. Thank you. :)

Yes definatly, I know Aaron did tweak his app a few times, but works for removing all .NET, which in most cases is best thing and then start from screatch to install latest version and go from their.

Oma, credit where its due, tech support is about remembering past issues (I know I at least posted similar in 3-4 threads on same issue in past few years) and knowing the fix and you did in one simple and concise post.
