microsoft .net framework 3.5 won't install

Hi all,

Real newbie here, I have been getting the same basic message but for Framework 3.5, I have XP SP2. Several programs I've tried to install give the same message, "... unable to continue", or to the like.

Should I follow the same procedure and uninstall the .NET's?

I see this thread is old but I'm hoping someone is monotoring it. Thanks in advance.

Hi

Yes you could try the.NETcleanup tool, it will remove all the .Net versions so you will have to get them all again BUT the tool I posted in the other thread has moved to this location now http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip

Just so you know who this fix came from its from Aaron Stebner who was a programmer on .NET http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/articles/488032.aspx

If you get any error messages with applications DO tell us whatg application this is with and the full exact message as the thread you posted inwas from 2007 and things have changed since then.

I had gone to his pages and understood about 1/3 of what was written. Then I went to Microsoftupdates and son of a gun if it didn't work this time. So, I do have 3.5.

However, while there the updater said I needed 5 "important" updates. One was the usual tuesday security one, others were microsoft related. One was for an NVidia GeForce 6150LE driver.

I downloaded them, and when I rebooted my screen is completely screwed up! I can't increase past 640x480pixels, with the color quality @ 4 (bit)! Now, I'm totally screwewd I have no idea on how to fix it. I tried all the usual ways Display|Settings, MyComputer|Hardware|Devises.

It always reverts back. I think I'm going to have to do a System Restore, what do you think? thnx - in real trouble, rich
