I have that on my system.
I used to have a Matrox Parhelia video card.
NET framework was installed by the card's installation CD, needed to be upgraded via MS and required for Matrox driver installation.

    Hi Vonnie
It is not nessarry but as in my case you will find more and more software requires it. So if you are downloading i would carry on and be done with it. To those of you who have not got it yet there is no problem with it. All it does is put another user on your system next to your name. So you will always have company :D

Yeah I've only ever used it when i was developing a server program for managing websites. It was in C#. Shame i didnt know c#! lol. Personally I see no use for it other than server-side development, and even then its not nececary, just makes things easier and "quicker".

If i see a utility that uses it i generally just go for the next best that doesnt use it, or get a differently compiled version.

I just installed Burn&Go Nitro and first it said missing dll (mscoree, got it) and now it still can't run coz it needs the .Net Framework. Reading the above answers has confused me, should I or shouldn't I install it? Where from, if so? And will I need it to be running all the time?
Thank you, thank you and thank you :)

We will start seeing in the near future that more and more software will begin to require the .NET framework. I'd say, install it only if you need it. Otherwise it's taking up space.

Thanks Kodo, so? (I know, I should have checked a burner program from here, I had Nero Express and then got a demo and now everything has expired and the one that came with the burner isn't working either.) So I guess I need to install the.Net one. Grr, I need XP.... (I have 2K pro)
    Thank you.
