Microsoft Office Basic 2003 OEM is around $175 so I don't know, if it's a company it should be ok, but if its like eBay or something I dont think I could trust it. Office 2003 is expensive but IMO well worth it, there is a lot of technology in Office 2003.

Yeah, I don't think I could trust that. I would buy from BestBuy or if you want it cheaper, Newegg or Buy.com will have it.

Yep, I was planning on placing an order. I am leery because of the fact that I purchased a few copies from an individual that wholesales software and when I tell you that it was the best forgery I have ever seen I mean it! They only way you could tell is by entering random numbers in the product key. It even connected with Microsoft for updates???? Have you ever heard of that:eek:

The OEM and Retail versions will prompt you at the end of the install to check the Microsoft website for updates but that's all I know of setup doing. Anything else IMO wouldnt be legal.

Academic versions are often a bit cheaper, albeit a liitle functionality may go...

Assuming he/she qualifies for an academic version, you don't lose any functionality.

They are generally the same as retail versions.

As Insomniac stated no loss of functionality is seen in using Academic versions of Office.. ok dependant on version you may or may not get some compontents eg. Publisher, InfoPath and Access, but what you do get in your version fully works.

I have experienced those versions first hand.

@junkyjedi ~ best prices seem to be around the price BJ suggested of $175 for Office 2003, you may get one of those $50 versions but who's to say it would work or actually in English? you would have no comeback.. not as if your going to travel to China to get your money back! well you might as you have a charter firm ;)

Is office 2003 needed or with a free legal alternative do ( ok I know im off the Office 2003 topic a tad but trying to give you the best, cheapest options )? Open Office has the functionality of office but free... worth a look http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3461.html
