    Little background

I've been using Office 2000 for the past 5 months no problem. Before I installed 2000 I had used the trial version of Office 2007.

Well last night I tried to install a program from Avery to print labels and I guess it associated itself with office 2007 and thus 'uninstalled' office 2000.

I uninstalled the trial version of 2007 and reinstalled office 2000.

Now the problem is when I click any program in office the program doesn't start and I get an error message that says....

"This application must be installed to run. Please run Setup from the location where you originally installed the application."

I've attempted uninstall and reinstall serveral times but no luck.. Any suggestions?

This problem can be fixed by going to an Office document and Right clicking on it. Choose "Open with", make sure the option to "always use this program..." is checked and click on the appropriate version of your office application. You may have to go through "other programs" to locate the correct version.
In your Program Files\Microsoft Office folder there will be sub folders for each version of Office that you have installed on your computer. If I remember correctly Office 2000 was named Office 9.

Delete your old Outlook icon from the desktop
This will not remove the program, it will simply delete the shortcut (icon) that is misdirecting you.

Double click on your My Computer icon on the desktop and then double click on the following
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Microsoft Office
    Office 9
and look for the Outlook icon.
Right click on it and choose:
    Send to >desktop (create icon)

You should be able to use this new shortcut to access the proper verson of Outlook

If I try and open any office program (word, excel, outlook) it says the same error message. Doesn't matter where I try and open it from.

I just cleaned the registry and tried to reinstall but no such luck :( I still get the same error message.

Something is still left over from your previous install.
Is there still an entry in your Add/Remove programs for Office 2007?

Can you post a screenshot of the error message?
