Microsoft Outlook got really slow

I am running Office 2007 on my PC windows 7 pro X 64 and until yesterday my e-mail client (microsoft outlook) when i opened it i got instant reaction but for some reason it now takes 40 to 50 seconds to load, i have trawled the web for solutions but nothing seems to work for me so has anybody got an idea what this is.
I have done 'system restore' but that did not work and i have not loaded any applications recently.

Yep i have done that Tim, i store most my old e-mails in a folder on the hard drive.
I spent hours trying different solutions i found on the web.
It is not really important but just annoying as i am used to it opening immediately.

 

Left field suggestions -

How do you open it BILL?
Desktop shortcut - Quick launch icon/pinned to task bar - Start > All Programs
If the first two, delete and redo.
Did you run the Office Diagnostics under Help? Any indications from that?

I open it with a button on my keyboard but even if i use 'start/all programs it is just the same.
Diagnostics found nothing.

 

Have you tried to archive your older stuff? There should be an option under "File" to archive older items. It sometimes gets all jammed up if you don't archive.

 

Yep done that but still the same but thanks anyway.

 

I would try a Repair install from the Office DVD

 

I considered that but i no longer have the DVD just my Key and i do not want to do a complete install.
