At my previous job, my coworker had showed me how to configure Microsoft Outlook so that when I requested Read Receipts, the person receiving the message would not be able to see that I requested one and would not get that prompt to accept or deny....

If anyone could please remind me how to do this, I would greatly appreciate it... I feel some people are slighted when they see that you've requested Read Receipts and of course if they don't want you to see that they're read your email, they'll just select No... Which really negates the use of Read Receipts...

    Thanks...

    Thanks for the response Theefool....

I thought maybe there was an option so that others could not see that you attached a read-receipt on the email that you sent them... But perhaps it was what you are referring to and not the other way around...

I read a few instances that MS had to (forced to) make sure that the user did indeed have the choice. But, the user on their end could change it, so that they didn't have to worry about not clicking yes/no on read receipts....

    /me shrugs in cluelessness. :)

The never send response option in preferences only changes the setting in an individuals own outlook and automatically ignores a recieved request for a read reciept so the senders request is ignored. The IT geek in charge of downloading each employees desktop the required software and setting their folder access permission may be able to block each users access to turn off the read reciept prompt ??? I am guessing ???
    You want the:
request for only the delivery reciept option. This will email you confirming wether the email sent has been or not been recieved in the reciepients' Inbox by design and does not require a manual prompt from the recipient that the email is being recieved and so they are unaware you will recieve the delivery confirmation. However, it can not confirm the recipient opens it or for that matter reads it and you need confirmation its been read.

    FYI:
Requesting read reciepts a feature designed by default to require prompts from both the sender and the reciever and provides no options for the sender to disable or hide the recipients recieved reciept prompt. This is its purpose.
