I have now had two people tell me that they cannot open Publisher files when I e-mail that file type to them. One person has Win XP with Office XP and the other has Win 2000 with Office 2002. Since they're so different, I assumed the problem must be with my computer, which is running Win XP and Office 2003.

I send and they receive with Outlook. Also, they are able to open Publisher files from My Documents on each of their computers.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office on my machine and theirs, but still have the same problem. No viruses found by Norton. Windows and Office Updates are current too.

    Any ideas?

Is this the method you use? If not, try it and see if it works for them.

    Open Outlook.
    Open a new mail message
Enter whom you are going to send it to, a Subject, and any information in the body of the document.
On the Insert menu, click File.
Find the file you want to send and then click Insert.
    Send the file.

Yes. The problem is that they are unable to open Publisher attachments only. They are able to open any other kind of attachment from .pdfs to .jpgs to .docs. I know how to send and they know how to open them. Publisher flashes up on the screen and is then gone and the file won't open.

Publisher starts to open, then this error comes up:

Microsoft Publisher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Then, Publisher closes. This happens whether the person opens it directly from Outlook or saves it to My Documents first then tries to open it.

Have you checked out the Antivirus and a possible link to blocking the documents from opening? Norton AV has a nasty habbit of adding an plugin to the office package that causes some issues with opening docs.

I saw that in the first link you gave me and I've disabled that. I'm on my way over to that office to try it out. Thanks!

Yup - it was Norton! I disabled the plug-in on the sending computer and it worked then. Thanks a lot for your help!
