"Editor's Note: Microsoft Office 2000 users should read here before using, and the link brought me to a Microsoft page that no longer exists...

can i still download and use this program?

i'm using Windows XP Home, and have Office 2000

MiDG, it's still available HERE, for instance, among other places.

I agree completely with the Fish. It's a very lightweight cleaner. It seems to have a very narrow searching scope, BUT ...

I still run it comfortably occasionally on my Win98 system with Office 2000, and it finds things sometimes that are worth clearing. If it causes a problem -- and it never has for me -- it creates a .reg file that you just have to double-click to merge back into the reg.

I also still run it occasionally on my XP system (with Office 2002), and it sometimes finds something that RegSupreme and RegScrubXP have not looked at. Works just fine, but it's not a PRIMARY cleaner like RegSupreme or RegScrubXP or the improved version of RegSupreme that's in jv16PowerTools. It's more like a "supplementary" checker.

Usually, after you run one of the PRIMARY cleaners, RegClean 4.1a will tell it you it found nothing that requires fixing.

you should be good to go deleting any bad entrys found ive never had any probs with it nor has most ppl i know there were a few probs in the earlier versions but the program will make a back-ups which you can restore if you get problems if wizewiz drops by he will know if there are any problems and im sure hell let us know
also youll be surprised at the stuff it can find if youve been running your os for a while

edit: wizewiz has dropped by :)

The question of the Century, my friend. If you don't recognize it or don't know what it is, it's probably best to leave it alone. Over time, you'll develop a sense of what's good to dump and what's not, and you'll increase your IGNORE list accordingly.

Read jv's Help FAQ on the site. He says the same sort of thing.

well thx for the advice... problem is i'm not too knowledgeable about computers so i'm skeptical of what to delete and what not to delete...

i just did a normal scan with it and it found 851 entries =]
i didn't delete any of them yet though just wanted to see what a initial pass would turn up... is deleting these going to produce any noticeable increase in the speed of my comp? (1.6ghz 512MD DDR)

well... i made a backup of my reg a few days ago using Erundt so i guess it'll be okay to delete whatever entries the normal scan finds...

again personally i would as regsupreme will create a back-up of the changes you make and in the event a program doesnt work you can then restore and will have to manually search for entries related to that program
on a side note ive just recently used this on my sisters pc removed 654 entries with no ill effects

also again if you do this i take no responsibility ;)

    Hi MiDGeT
I would also like to point out that since using Reg Supreme.I have been able to use it in the very deep mode without fault
And as the General and wisewiz have pointed out about backing up what you remove. Reg Supreme automatically makes a back up so you can use the software with confidence :)

Hey, MiDG, it's GREAT that you're using ERUNT!

If you use that just before you run RegSupreme, you can always kill everything it finds -- without even worying a bit, because you've got a Purrrfect copy of the reg in ERDNT. My position way up there was just the conservative one. I kill everything RS finds. But I use ERUNT first. Every time.

No, you may not notice a speed change. We're dealing with millisecs here. But the point is that ERRORS can't be caused by bad entries that AREN'T THERE. A clean reg is a happy reg.

Oh, and you got a registry "optimizer" with your ERUNT. Try it, now that you've removed all that stuff from the reg. It's kinda neat, and it's supposed to remove the dead spots from the reg. The reg works a lot like a spreadsheet. Take something out, you leave a hole. Add something, it goes in at the end. The optimizer is a kind of defragger for the reg hives, getting rid of spaces and putting thigs that go together back together. (Or so it says here.)

great, thx again all... this was something i wanted to do but was hesitant about but i'm glad i did it...

i ran the Erunt optimzer now and made a back up of my registry again w/ Erunt... so now i have the backup from before i ever cleaned my reg and a backup from after the cleaning and optimization... so i should be pretty safe should the unthinkable happen =]
