    November 13, 2007

    Today Microsoft released the following Security Bulletin(s).

    Note: www.microsoft.com/technet/security and www.microsoft.com/security are authoritative in all matters concerning Microsoft Security Bulletins! ANY e-mail, web board or newsgroup posting (including this one) should be verified by visiting these sites for official information. Microsoft never sends security or other updates as attachments. These updates must be downloaded from the microsoft.com download center or Windows Update. See the individual bulletins for details.

    Because some malicious messages attempt to masquerade as official Microsoft security notices, it is recommended that you physically type the URLs into your web browser and not click on the hyperlinks provided.

    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/ms07-049.mspx

    This represents our regularly scheduled monthly bulletin release (second Tuesday of each month). Please note that Microsoft may release bulletins out side of this schedule if we determine the need to do so.

    If you have any questions regarding the patch or its implementation after reading the above listed bulletin you should contact Product Support Services in the United States at 1-866-PCSafety 1-866-727-2338. International customers should contact their local subsidiary

    As always, download the updates only from the vendors website - visit Windows Update and Office Update or Microsoft Update websites. You may also get the updates thru Automatic Updates functionality in Windows system.

    Since downloading the windows update today, my cordless mouse (Logitech Mouseman Wheel) no longer works. I had to plug in a corded mouse to get any capability. Does anyone know how I might fix this??
    I tried system restore, but it won't let me restore, I guess because it was a windows update??
    Thanks,
    Tammy

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
    application or machine (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
    rather than being handled by this dialog

    Hi Tammy :)
    Was there a sort of desktop "splash" screen that pops up? and what OS are you using xp or vista? and do you have the . net framework installed ? and if so which version ?

    I do not recall a "splash" as you mentioned. I am OS WindowsXP Pro. This is a new computer that I just started using about 2 months ago. I recall something else happening (prob. another WinUpdate) and it wouldn't let me return to a restore point. As for the .net...I am not even sure what that is! So...is there something I might do to tell you that?
    It's so very nice of you to help. If there is something I might do for you (with my only gift-artistry-...perhaps I can do something for you in calligraphy for a Christmas gift?) let me know.
    peace,
    Tammy

    Yes I do have that. I don't know what it is though.
    Do you? I am sure you do....could you please explain.
    My dilemma was that after the WinUpdate, my cordless mouse stopped working completely. It was working fine before that. I mean really fine, I walked out of the room, and the WinUpdate took place and the computer rebooted itself and then my mouse was completely not working. Both my mouse and cordless keyboard were on the same box with 2 cords coming out, seperate usb lines into the computer. So...I basically walked out and came back and it quit.
    The only change that took place, was my mouse quit.
    Glad to hear everything is working fine.
    peace,
    Tammy

    You can find out Tammy all about the net framework here With regards your mouse i would uninstall the drivers and check to see if they have been updated and if so reinstall the new updated driver. If they haven't been updated just reinstall the old ones

    It won't let me uninstall it. I tried that. Then I tried just putting in the disk that came with it. It says I all ready have it installed, but when I go ahead and install, it doesn't do anything to repair it. I guess I am stuck w/o my cordless mouse! :cry
    Which sucks, because I have carpal tunnel and it was ergonomic. The regular mouse sucks. The odd thing is the keyboard on the same equipment still works!
    (And yes I did put new batteries in it! ;) )
    Thank you very much for all of your help. It's good to know I don't have anything bad in there.
    peace,
    Tammy

    Wow...I did all of that...and still nothing. Tried 3 sets of batteries just to be sure. And nothing. It's so weird that the keyboard on the same system still works. And that it worked before I stepped away from the computer just an hour or 2 before that update installed itself. Stupid updates...that has to be what did it...but I don't know how to fix it! :banghead
    Thanks again for all of your suggestions and for looking at my files. Don't forget ...if I can repay the favor with my artistic abilities...feel free to let me know!:wave
    peace,
    Tammy
