Well, here goes... I have no clue how to fix this... I have a problem all of the sudden that keeps killing my connection and making my laptop search for network again. I went to the device manager to see what the problem was, and beneath network adapters, there is a line that says 'Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter #2' and it is displaying the litle yellow exclamation traiangle error thingy... I have tried to assign a different driver to it manually, and it still wont work.
    It says:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I tried the "check for solutions" button... that didn't help one bit... I am at my wit's end here...
DOes anyone know how to resolve this issue?

BTW, I am using an Acer Aspire 3680 Notebook... nothing special about it except and extra gig of ram added... don't know if that information is needed or not. I will research a bit more, and post back again if I find the solution.

Thanks so much to all who take the time to read this one... I really appreciate the help from you guys!

    -Po-;)

Apparently this error is related to using ipv6. (Right now IPs use four digits like 192.168.1.1 in the future they will use 6 digits).
To correct the error, you need to remove ipv6 by doing this:
Go to "network Places" and look at properties of connections.
Aside of "Client for Microsoft Networks", "File and Printer Sharing...", "Microsoft TCP/IP", etc., there is an entry with the name "Microsoft TCP/IP version 6". Just uninstall this and the problem should be gone.
    You may need to reboot.

thanks for the tip plodr, i will try this posthaste and see if it works... I like this idea much better than the ones I found whilst researching the problem... everyone else seems to think you have to delete about 3 registry keys for the problem to be fixed.
    I will report back soon!
    Many thanks, again.:wave

I tried what you said, PLODR, but it did not work out so well... I cannot uninstall the IPv6, in fact, it doesnt even provide the button to do so, only install and properties. Any other suggestions??? I have a bad feelin I am gona have to have this laptop taken in to a reapir center of some sort, because I do not feel entirely comfortable messing with registry keys or major changes like that....... besides, this is my girlfriend's notebook, and she'd kill me if i ruin it forever, heh.:D

Is there some way to manualy uninstal the IPv6, aside from using Wireless Network Connection Properties???????

    1. Open Control Panel, double-click Network Connections.
    2. Right-click any local area connection, and then click Properties.
    3. Click Microsoft TCP/IP version 6 in the list of installed components, and then click Uninstall.
4.In the Uninstall Microsoft TCP/IP version 6 dialog box, click Yes.
    5. Click Close to save changes to your network connection.
    6. Click Yes to restart your computer.

If you are only seeing an install button, it seems like it is not installed.

If the above steps don't work, maybe you will have to go the registry route. Be sure to back up the registry before you make any changes.

okay... ihave tried and tried to figure a way around it, looks like i will have to do a registry delete to fix this... I have a request, though:
Could someone tell me how to do this, step by step (including the backup portion of the process) so that I don't mess this up?
I know it sounds like I am asking alot, but I have never mesed with registry editing before, and I feel very uncomfortable doing so with my whopping zero experience. Also, I have seen guides for this process on other sites, but i just don't trust them the way I do majorgeeks... everyone here has given great help so far, and I really only rely on this site for support now.

    Thanks for your help everyone!

    1. To get into the registry, at Start/Run type in regedit then click ok
    2. You'll see 5 categories so highlight the one you are going to work on and then click on File and Export Registry File
Put it on your desktop when it asks for a location. You will see an icon that looks like 3 building blocks with the ending .reg You either right-click and open it with notepad to see what is inside or if you double-click (left mouse button) it will ask if you want to add this to the registry. That's your backup and if anything seems broken, you add it back to the registry which means it replaces the changes you've made with the original.
    3. Click on the + sign in front of the category that you want to work on
and keep pressing the + sign until you get to the items you either want to delete or edit.

Post back if you have questions.

Thanks much for the 'how-to'... it seems much easier when you describe it than when I read about it on other sites. My only other problem is that I do not know exactly which files I have to remove in order to fix this issue... is there a way to find the names of those registry entries, or do I need to do a trial-and-error sort of thing?
Again, thanks a bunch PLODR, I owe ya one... :drink

google your error and see if anyone solved it by deleting registry entries.
Either post the links so we can look over what they did or bak up the registry section and then remove the keys listed in the solution.
