Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter

Like many others I have a problem device showing in Device Manager, indicated by the yellow exclamation mark. I am not aware of any problems this may be causing - I connect to the internet wirelessly without a hitch. However, I don't like device driver problems like this. I notice a similar post to this, but it refers to IPV6 which is not installed on my computer. I cannot remove the device from Device Manager as it says it may be needed in start up.

Computer is a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop
1.25GB ram
40GB h/d
XP Home SP3

Solutions on the web seem to refer to editing many registry entries in order to remove the device, which doesn't seem very satisfactory. Some solutions purport to offer driver updates, but their links often lead back to Windowsupdate, which fails to detect any missing or updated drivers.

Any help would be much appreciated.
