microsoft uodate HELP~!

alright well here my issue , i havent been able to update my computer using microsoft update since july 25 2007!! it keeps giving me the error of 80072EFE , i searched on googles for solutions but i cant really find any that are helping me out.

This is affecting my computer alot because
- i cant go on a microsoft.com site.. for help or anything
- cant sign in to hotmail , live etc.
- CANT USE MSN MESSENGER

PLEASE HELP ME OUT , im willing to try anything to fix this

This is probably a firewall issue. Try turning your firewall off temporarily and running the updates. If that doesn't work, check to see if your modem/router has a firewall as that could be the culprit also.

 

Also are you running a legit version of windows, as that may cause update issues + issues with microsoft sites or downloads,

 

i got a norton anti virus.. do i just turn it off? is there a vista firewall that can be turned off?

This problem just randomly occured.. i dont have a router and im sure it isnt my modem because i havent changed it and msn use to work.

Yes my version of vista is legit

I was only able to run softpub.dll, the other ones said not found , failed to load.

 

even with all my firewalls off.. it not doing anything......... its really getting me pissed off.

I have come to the conclusion that vista is a POS , what kind of crap is trying to install updates.. then being unable to go on anything related to microsoft.. and unable to install any more updates. ive have 2 computers with vista.. brand new computers and both give me TONES of trouble , im gonna see if i can get XP because i can clearly see that vista is not worth anything.
