Microsoft update Installation failed

If you have malware on your PC and by this thread ( which will be gotten to in order, but as its been the holidays, folk want to spend their free time with family ) http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=112665 you may well have, this can cause errors in not downloading updates, so you need to be a little patient in waiting for the malware experts to get to your thread.


Also by this thread http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=112679 if you installed Comodo firewall, in its settings it maybe blocking Windows Update by default, and so could any other security applications you have installed, any of the below are usual suspects for blocking Win Update

Sygate Personal Firewall
Norton Internet Security
Freedom Firewall
Zone Alarm Firewall

if any of them are installed disable or uninstall them and try again... especially if you haev installed multiple Antivirus, Firewall, Resident Scanning Antispyware applciations as multiple of each type will conflict.

You also may need to be logged in as Admin if its a Win2000/XP/2003 or above version.



But in likelyhood it maybe the malware.
