Microsoft Update KB955706

My laptop is having trouble with a Microsoft update (SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP3 KB955706). It keeps showing up as an update that is ready to install, but the installation fails. I've followed the steps at Microsoft Download Center, but they have not helped. I ran "Dial-A-Fix", but that did not help.

Any ideas?

Here are the error codes that I've received:
0x01
0x800706BE (got this one twice!)
0x2B2F (we've got a winner - got this 3 times!!!!) :cry

Each time the advice is to try the installation again.

I followed point #1 on your post, but it did not help.

I then started working through point #2 on your post. I did the first four steps, but none of them helped. As I was working through them, I realized that I no longer needed the SQL stuff on that machine. So I uninstalled the programs that were no longer needed.

As a side note, while I was trying to get everything to work on the laptop, the update installed smoothly on my desktop !

One other note: when I went to the Microsoft Update web page, it would detect the update on my laptop and just try to install it without doing a new download. Is it possible that I had a corrupted copy of the update on my laptop and that is why it would not install? If so, how could I have deleted it from my system to force a new download?
