Microsoft Updates from last week and SP3

Concerning the September MS patches, I have seen a few indications of issues for those who have installed SP3 for XP.

Have SP3 users had any experiences with the recent patches they can share?

Hi: After the SP3 d-load we see that Outlook Express is gone. But a search of MajorGeeks postings shows a repair: i.e. Control Panel, Add/remove, Windows components: Check Outlook Express, continue with the automatic reinstall.
I heard that some files are now re-hidden also.
Thanks everyone, now the wife has stopped screaming at me since she can read her mail again.

 

Running SP3 here no issues. Got a security update on 11th sept KB938464 and a malicious SW removal KB890830 same day. Just checked and no high priority updates available. Could you elucidate on the issues?? Which updates were installed?

Based on what I saw, below, I have not yet installed the Sept patches.

One place was http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=5009 where two comments were posted right after the patches were announced. The other was at blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/. For the latter, you need to scroll down to the 9 Sept comments.

There were five MS Sept patches: two for Office, two for XP and a usual suspect for Outlook.

I am curious as to what others' SP3 experiences might be with the Sept patches.

 

I got an additional two for Office as well. What made you check up on that site?? Just install and let us know if issues crop up. Cheers..
