microsoft visual c++ runtime error

Hi,
Recently I have gotten a notification like the following, when trying to open specific folders on the c-drive, which is crucial since it cotains my word-docs etc.

The messege that pops up is this:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library:
Runtime Error
Program: C\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I can then hit: OK, and the folders I was in will promptly close down.

Happens all the time now in certain folders. Have tried to delete the application: VISUAL C++, but didnt solve the problem.

Have no lead on this so far. Any ideas???
