I want to change the template for Word. Here is what I did that did not work.
    1. Open Word
    2. Go to File --> Options --> Advanced
    3. Go to General section
    4. Click on File Locations
    5. In File Locations box click on User Templates & then click on Modify
    6. Changed the location to
    C:\Users\MyAccount\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Office Templates
    7. Placed into this folder the files
    Doc1.dot Doc1.dotm Doc1.dotx
    8. Open file Doc1.dotx
    9. Change default font to Times New Roman 12
    10. But when I open a new Word document the font shown is
Arial 11 and not Times New Roman 12
    11. Tried rebooting - still did not work

Why did the above not work? Please tell me what I am missing.

    Thank you!!

Word opens to a default template - and it is after opening Word that users can then call up their user templates. If you want Word to open and set to Times New Roman (or whatever other settings), you preset all that in general options/settings -- subject to the choices available, of course.
