My son has an issue with his computer we need some help to resolve, below is the problem in his words! Thanks!! :confused

As I recently installed Ubuntu (Linux), I noticed after a day or so, it crashed and said "Windows could not start because a file is missing or corrupt [Windows root]/system32/hal.dll". I then went to windows (before it crashed) and then self-replaced the hal.dll file by replacing it. I then restarted the computer and Ubuntu still wouldn't start up. i didn't yet know (until someone told me) that Ubuntu has NOTHING to do with DLL files. I then tried to start up windows and it said "Windows could not start because a DLL is broken. Please contact your support person about this issue." and I don't know what to do next. The HDD that I have will not work with the other computers I have here.

If anyone can help me with this issue, please reply to this thread. :confused

    Thanks,
