Microsoft Word 2003 problem

Hi. I'm new here... I'm using Windows XP Home Edition, Microsoft Word 2003. Recently, every time I open Word, whether it's a doc on my desktop or I'm actually opening the program file, it opens to a light blue screen which I can't do anything with. After trying it over and over again, it'll finally work. But then the next time I open Word it will do the same thing. Can anyone help?

 

Thanks. I tried this, but it's still doing the same thing - opening to a light blue screen. I also noticed that there some of the things in my Start menu have disappeared when I open it... I fear this is related?
