Microsoft Word and MSI file disappeared - no disc to fix it

I have Microsoft Office 2000 Premium. I have never had any problems with since 2000 and all of a sudden today, I go to start my Word and I get the Windows Installer window and it tells me to install my disc, which I've looked for and cannot find anywhere, since I haven't used it for 8 years now. I hit cancel and I get error 1706: No valid source could be found for product Microsoft Office 2000 Premium. The windows installer cannot continue. I hit ok and then I get a fatal error during installation. All of my other Office programs work, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. I tried using the Microsoft Office Tools Maintenance Wizard, but it gets to where it asks me for an MSI file. I put this file into search and it doesn't seem to be anywhere on my computer. :confused I even tried a Windows XP Pro System Restore to the last time I knew I used Word successfully and it didn't work.

Short of purchasing a newer version of Office and installing it, is there anything I can do? I work from home and I really need my Word!!! :cry

A possible is that in many cases the MSO folder where the Office MSI files are kept is a hidden folder and searching will do no good, unless you unhide files and folders from the Tools > Folder Options > View tab and look down list then search for the specific MSI, or in most cases the MSO folder is in this location C:\MSOCache or C:\MSO and inside are the installers for all of Office.

Then you can aim the Wizard to this location if it has a browse option to locate the MSI files

*note* will only work if the original install of Office was a default one and/or when asked during install to save the Office Installer files, but worth a try.
