I thought I'd post this as I know you like and play the cello and my post would go unnoticed in the 'Watcha listenin' to' thread. This is Grieg's 'Hall of The Mountain King' done in heavy metal cello. Who would have ever thought that there were 4 heavy metal Norwegian heavy metal cellists out there?:cool They probably play for the symphony too as their day jobs!:-D

Augie, I hate to break it to you, but Apocalyptica are Finnish, not Norwegian... I love that band, have loved them since the moment I found out about them years ago. Have you heard their version of For Whom The Bell Tolls or Unforgiven?

I played the cello from 4th grade all the way through high school. I was in the city Youth Symphonics and everything, but
I couldn't afford to take it with me when I moved to the US. If I had known about Apocalyptica back in High School, I would be a professional celloist today... and I would play Iron Maiden on it. :guitar

Aah, for some reason I had Norway on the brain but close enough. I've only heard the one I posted so far, I'll keep the other tunes in mind as I go down their YT tree. This metal I like.

Glad you like it, I'm not one that likes metal much like the wall of sound and incoherent screaming, I'm an old man who grew up with Jimi Hendrix and Cream.:-D Here at least with Apolyptica one can appreciate their musicianship.

Oh, I just remembered what I really dislike was 'Growl'. Might be fitting for Halloween though.rolleyes

 

Apocalyptica released an entire album where they play only Metallica songs. Their versions of Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters are fantastic as well.

 

Thanks Auggie! I'm a huge music fan... i love to have it playing almost all the time. I can't stand opera and gangsta rap makes me nauseas and homocidal! Other than that... I'm pretty much open to anything as long as I can sway to the beat and get a warm fuzzy from it
