    Hello,

My computer recently had a virus, which I have subsequently gotten rid of. Unfortunately it left with a bothersome side effect, that open programs no longer minimise into the task bar. So to scroll through open windows I have to use Alt+Tab...

Have you heard of this problem before? Any ideas how to help me??

Thanks in advance! Merry festive season!

Sorry - I should add that I am running Windows XP. I have tried as many things as I can think of to get it working but can't find anything that works yet. Related to the problem may be that my 'quick launch' section no longer has that button on the side that you click to bring up other 'quick launch' options, i.e. my whole task bar is now dedicated to quick launch icons so doesn't have room for minimised programs. For example, I can drag and drop a whole taskbar's worth of Quick Launch icons into my taskbar now.

Another problem that has come up is that when I go into Control Panel, it comes up with an error that reads like this:
"To enable advanced sound effect for gaming, please make sure the setting of Hardware Acceleration is "full". The directory is as below: Control Panel -> Multimedia(Win98)/Sound & Multimedia(Win200/ME)/Sound & Audio Device (Win XP) -> Audio -> Playback/Advance... -> Performance -> Hardware Acceleration."
That is word for word too, it says "Win200", not "Win2000". This pops up from 3 to 6 times when I open Control Panel, and also a couple more times if I click on one of the icons in my Control Panel called "Sound Effect Manager" which opens up a window titled "AC97 Audio Configuration"

Anybody heard of this before? Can anyone help me...?

ok so another post, albeit a quicky...

There is a hidden file in my "Quick Launch" folder called "desktop.ini". It reads as follows...

    [LocalizedFileNames]
    Launch Internet Explorer Browser.lnk=@xpsp1res.dll,-11003
    Show Desktop.scf=@xpsp2res.dll,-6100

maybe this has something to do with it? i really don't know but thought it may help...

Brilliant! Worked straight away, many thanks!

I still have one more problem though, I'll post it as a separate problem though...
