I've recently purchased a router so I can now enjoy wireless broadband, but for some reason I've lost the ability to DCC send and receive files over IRC networks. I use MIRC and was wondering what I'm doing wrong?

Coupled with this, I feel my firewall may be incorrectly set up now I've got a wireless router - once I solve the MIRC problem I'm going to try and solve this one.

    Thanks in advance.

You need to open some ports on your router to use DCC with Mirc.
Mirc uses port ranges 1024 to 5000 by default. You can adjust these under tools, options, connect, options, advanced.
Depending on your router, you may either have to open the ports directly(1024-5000 is a wide range, opening up alot of ports may not be a good idea), or you may be able to use triggered applications.
You might also have to check your Windows firewall settings to allow these ports.
I know it's confusing, but basically you have two firewalls. The router is a firewall, and Windows XP has it's built in firewall.

Thanks, things are working now. I'll keep an eye on the open ports.
