    Hello,
I am trying to remove Nero 10 multimedia suite HD from my computer as have discovered it is not valid. I have a new copy of Nero 10 to install but my computer won't let me. When I try to uninstall the old program, I get an error messasge saying that the data1.cab file is missing or unreadable. I have searched my computer and can not find the file. Can someone tell me how to get rid of the old program so that I can install the valid one? :-o

How are you uninstalling the old program--using add/remove programs? I would try to use that first and then follow up with the clean tool.

    Try the Nero clean tool.

I tried using both the windows add/remove programs and CCleaner remove programs. I get the same error message both ways. I used the nero clean tool and it said that it didn't find anything on my computer but when I tried to install nero 10, again I got the following error message:
Another version of this product is already installed. installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use add/remove programs on the control panel.

any other ideas... Thanks for your help!

You could try revo uninstaller. I'm not sure if it will see the program if you already tried Add/Remove programs.

Is Nero still showing in Add/Remove?

Also just as another idea: try running the clean tool as administrator to see if there is any difference.

You could try doing a "registry" search for "nero" and see if there are any hits. The install program may be finding an entry that was not removed, thus not allowing a new install.

I used revo and now Nero isn't showing in the program files or anywhere. I still get the same message about Nero already being installed. I used Tuneup which also found pieces of the program and deleted them and then checked the registry manually. I couldn't find any more parts of Nero but am still being told the same message, the a another version is keeping me from installing the program.

    HELP!!!

Glad you got it sorted. Good work pistol!

Beyond the CleanTool, I was really at a loss. In my limited experience that has cleaned up everything Nero related. I did notice Nero says the clean tool is only for Nero 9 and below, and that they also state they have recently changed their installer. (maybe their are problems with their new installer program?)

Thanks for letting us know what worked. :)
