I recently loaded a copy of xp home to my emachines T6522. The load went good and I even upgraded to IE8 and so forth. But soon after I noticed I had no sound. So checking the device manager I see (?) marks over several statements. looking into these in device manager ( under directory titled [other] ) which completely makes no sense, I found that no drivers were found in the following areas:
    Multimedia Audio Controller
    Multimedia Controller
    PCI Simple Communications Controller
    SM Buss Controller
    Video Controller ( VGA Compatible).
The realtek audio drivers located under the audio directory all seem to be in place and the message there said [this device is operating correctly].
So looking at theinternet I see several driver d/l locations but I am unsure what is save to use and what is not.
Example of areas I saw include such as Driver Whiz or Driver Cure.
If someone can tell me what url to goto to get these drivers as the xp install disk does not have these as I tried to use the install disk wizard to upgrade and was given message the drivers would need to be attained from the internet.
Thanks to all who may respond to this thread

    Greetings, grumpy0m.

Those Device Manager flags are showing that you need to reinstall your chipset, audio, and video drivers.

To help us find the proper software, please download and run Speccy, a free system information tool.

When the scan completes, click File > Save as Text file, name the file 'Report', and save to an easily found location, such as your Desktop.

(NOTE: Speccy will record and display your Windows Product Key - if you don't wish this to be seen, just edit it out of the report).

Then attach that file to your next post per these instructions: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post.

(SECOND NOTE: Stay away from any driver programs you might find on the internet, as they cannot be confirmed as being malware-clean. The safest way to find drivers is to go directly to the manufacturer's website.)
