    We have installed a n Dvd player, which use to show up as E Drive, Now E Drive does not show up in My computer.
    We have tried uninstalling and going to Device manager and reinstalling and this is still not solving our problem, It is listed though with an exclamation icon on it.
    We have also went into regit, and deleted the values, but this has not helped either.
    Sure would appreciate any advice.

    Since there is an exclamation icon on it, there is something wrong with the device, which needs to be resolved for it to function normally. Try opening the properties of the device, and seeing the trouble messages. You probably need drivers.

    Ok I went to the Device Manager and this is what it keeps saying: Windows can not load the device driver for this hardware. The Driver may be corrupted or missing.
    Error 39
    When I update the driver it says Windows could not find better match.
    Thanks for replying.

    If your drive came with an installation disc, insert it, and install drivers from there.

    If not, go to the manufacturer's site, and try to download them from there.

    Ive seen something similar to this before, and it might have something to do with the addition or removal of some sort of cd writing program (roxio). here is something from microsoft on a possible solution:

    ========from support.microsoft.com=============
    Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
    To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
    1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
    2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    6. Quit Registry Editor.

    NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

    7. Restart your computer.

    Thanks so much, your solution to my problem worked, I have my E Drive back (Yeah!) and your assumption was right, I just got done removing Roxio from my computer. Thank-you so much for replying. I hope one day maybe I can do the same for you!
