missing .msi files after malware removal

used the read and run me first program list and successfully removed my trojan and other problems, but now I tried to update Itunes and adobe reader and both have a window pop up looking for the .msi files to remove the old program, i have no idea where these are or if they were deleted with the scans. also happens when i try to fax or scan, looking for some file. I went through the window updater and It says i needed .NET framework 3.5 so installing that right now. any help would be appreciated. will check back in after framework install. thanks

 

Reboot and see if that helps. Then uninstall Adobe and iTunes via Add/remove programs. And then reinstall the new versions.

 

did not help, cannot delete the files either. I found the adobe .msi file on line and got that cleared up and i think the fax issue is fixed but Itunes does not even have a delete option in add/remove programs.

 

Then remove QuickTime Player. After that you'll need to search for remains manually. They are difficult to delete but it can be done. You'll find, that this is best done if you reboot into Safe mode.

1. You must have hidden files, folders and programs enabled. That is done like this: Start -> Control Panel -> Tools -> Folder Options. On one of the tabs in there you put dots and check marks in so that they'll show.

2. Then search for apple, itunes and quicktime. Use Search Companion - the one with the yellow dog. If the findings wont delete you right click the file and select Properties. This opens a window. On one of the tabs you can change permissions. Just put check marks in the little boxes. Then delete.
