Allright fellow geeks help me out.

Save the kittens I have already checked Microsoft and have done a light search on google.

    Here is the problem

I went home yesterday and My computer had shut down somehow. Now my computer was in perfect working order.

All the spyware checking antivirus firewall antitroyans all the regular stuff we talk about here has been done.

regular registry cleaning and defraging the whole works.

The problem is I get this missing ntldr error upon researching I have found out that is missing some kind of startup file needed to start the system. I could not find anywhere that this error is connected with a hard drive finally going down for the count. Which is what I suspect happened.

The kinds of solutions I have found so far have not worked and I dont thing have anything to do with my problem
    Here is my question
Do you all think that this error could also happen because of a hard drive failure? (the hard drive no longer operational)

I have 3 hardrives on my system the one where the operating system is located is the master and the slave attached to it can be seen by the bios but the master is not there.

I think I know the answer already, (install a new drive) or make one of the other drives the booting drive.

I just figured I get your input. Your advice will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks in Advanced

Remove the floppy from your floppy drive ;)

In this order, try this. Boot to Recovery Console:

Fixboot c: Assuming C: is your boot drive.
    copy x:\i386\ntldr c:\
where x is your cdrom drive, and c:\ is the root of your boot drive.
    copy x:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
    bootcfg /rebuild
    Say yes to add installation
    OS Load Indentifier: Windows XP
    OS Load Options: /fastdetect

If all else fails, chkdsk /r

Sure I dont need to kill some kitties?

    I tried that already. :)
    so don't kill the kitten:D

One of the reasons why I suspect the drive to be dead is because your suggestion is not able to be acomplished.

Unfortunately I left my cd's at my sisters house But I will get them
When I get home today I am going to run a diagnostics on the hardrive. with a bootable cd rom disc.

    I appreciate your help.

I will post what happens later

Not sure what you mean with that :)

I am back on line. It was the hard drive

Thank you God for Norton Ghost

My computer is back just the way I had it before the drive went down

About the only thing I lost is some links on intenet explorer

Installed a 160 gig broke it down into four partitions
on one of the partitions I reinstated norton back up and boom I am back and ready.

Norton Ghost saved me from maybe days of tedious installations and updates

All this took about 25 minutes as opposed to 5 six days:D:D:D:D
